Our education programming is not just about learning how to act, sing, or dance, though it’s very likely you’ll learn all three here. We aspire to provide an opportunity for self discovery: of personal creativity, confidence, talent, and value as an individual no matter the age.

Our organization has been devoted to providing artistic education to the students of Park & Gallatin County for over two decades. We accomplish this through the following education programming:

Students ages 6 - 14 participate in an intensive 2-week afterschool program culminating in three public performances of a full musical production.

Formerly the High School Production, this program follows the same template as our Mainstage shows — resulting in a full production experience. Participating students meet over the course of 6 weeks to rehearse, followed by 10 community performances. Teens of all area schools and recent high school graduates are welcome to audition for this full-length teen theatre production. Ages 13 - 18.

The cornerstone of our Education Program is a two-week full-day workshop focusing on all aspects of the performing arts (speech, movement, dance, and music).
Students meet at the Shane Center to learn about these aspects and to rehearse a musical production which will be presented to the community at the close of the workshop with 3 public performances. Ages 6 - 17.

June: A two-week long full-day camp culminating in a production of SNOW WHITE for ages 6 - 11.
July: A two-week long full-day camp culminating in a production of JAMES & THE GIANT PEACH for ages 6 - 14.

Shane Center staff work with students at Arrowhead Elementary, Pine Creek School, Gardiner Public School, and the Park and Gallatin County Home School Associations to provide a performing arts opportunity in rural areas. During that week, students rehearse and perform a full production.

Afternoon and evening classes will be occasionally offered throughout the year. Each class, hosted over 4 weeks, focuses on different elements of the performing arts.

Students ages 13-18 explore contemporary social issues and prepare an artistic performance for the community and their peers culminating in 3 public performances. By encouraging students to openly address difficult topics, bridges can be formed that mitigate feelings of social isolation.
