The Devised Theatre Initiative empowers our youth to speak their truths and begin a dialogue with their community. This program is a collaborative, experimental, and exploratory method of creating a theatrical performance.

It begins with a shared idea or inspiration, such as a painting, a song, a real life event, or social issue, and the group participants or “ensemble” create the work as they go. The work is found through improvisation, movement exercises, and collaborative writing. The “final” product is presented to the public in whatever state of completion it is in, beginning a dialogue, through art, with their community and their peers.

Students Ages 13 - 18
