Free Public Lecture: Notre-Dame de Paris — Then and Now
Join us in the Ballroom for a captivating event exploring Victor Hugo’s Notre-Dame de Paris — the timeless story that continues to inspire generations. Visiting Assistant Professor of French & Francophone Studies from Montana State University–will offer a fascinating look at the historical and literary context of Hugo’s 1831 masterpiece, unpack its central themes of justice, beauty, and belonging, and reflect on the novel’s enduring relevance in our modern world.
Through an engaging multimedia presentation, guests will gain fresh insight into the work that sparked both a cultural movement and the preservation of one of France’s most iconic landmarks.
In addition to the lecture, enjoy a sneak peek performance featuring a song from the Shane Center’s upcoming production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame — opening October 17th and running through November 9th. Attendees will also have the chance to enter a French Wine Package Raffle, making this a truly special evening celebrating art, literature, and community.
