Young Actors’ Workshop
The Young Actors’ Workshop (YAW) is one of the Shane Lalani Center for the Arts’ most popular programs. Presented in August, this workshop is an intense two-week theatre skills course for students in grades K-12. The workshop divides a full day between rehearsals and classes taught by theatre professionals and college students. The YAW provides students with the opportunity to learn a wide variety of theatre skills while building a full-scale musical production. At the culmination of each workshop, students have a chance to show off all their hard work during three public performances on the Dulcie Theatre stage.
This year’s dates: August 6 – August 18, 2018

In School Outreach
The Shane Center’s In-School Outreach Program began in 2009 as a response to school cutbacks in programmatic arts funding. The program has expanded over the years to reach nearly every local school, and is a fine example of how collaborations at this level can blossom into long-lasting relationships.
The Shane Lalani Center for the Arts tailors its outreach programming to the needs of each individual school. Our experienced staff conducts dynamic performing arts workshops in school, and then students audition for a role in an original musical play. Rehearsals take place at the Shane Center, and the program culminates with public performances on our stage. This longstanding collaboration between the Shane Center and the local school system provides free access to a fun learning environment, and provides our students with an arts education they might not otherwise receive.
Beginning in 2013, the Shane Lalani Center for the Arts expanded the educational outreach program to include dance and acting classes taught at the center. Each season different classes are offered to students of all ages. The Shane Center also has additional classes that are hosted in our facility.
